About Du Ab
Du Ab takes its name from the meeting of waters: the name means two rivers. It sits among the headstreams of the Alingar in the west of the province, where several mountain streams converge and forested slopes give way to fertile valley floors. With fewer than ten thousand people it is the least populous of the eight districts.
The valley floors are fertile and farmed hard, with terraced fields worked along the rivers that name it.
Like its neighbour Mandol, Du Ab is well off the beaten track; the way in runs from Laghman up the Alingar valley. Travellers who reach it find working valleys, terraced fields and the quiet of Nuristan's western hills.
